 | | Use adequate screw eyes, chain, or other materials to hang your window |
| | depending on its size and weight. Be sure to secure hanging hardware in studs/solid wood for best results.
|
 | | Pieces using salvaged window panes can be hung outdoors, but use |
| | common sense. Keep them sheltered from heavy rain to avoid wood rot, and bring them inside during storms or high winds.
|
 | | A damp cloth or mild window cleaner can be used on the glass to remove |
| | finger prints or dust, use caution and do a subtle test before applying any cleansers to non-glass items such as shells or stones that may be included in your window. Use extra caution not to scratch the surface when cleaning windows with antique negatives or painted pieces etc.
|
 | | Metal solder will acquire a natural, dark patina over time. Do not try to |
| | scrub the metal areas as it could weaken the over all strength of the piece. The Crafty Hag does not apply any patina to the solder on her windows as she prefers a more natural aging to her work. However if you would like your piece to have a black patina applied to the solder before you take it home that can be arranged, just ask!
|
 | | Always carry your stained glass windows with both hands to avoid stressing |
| | soldering joints.
